It was getting into the "low" 50's Wednesday night.. so I needed to bring everybody in. It was already into the upper 60's and dusk was close. I knew it was time.. and figured the extra consistent heat and humidity inside would get the girls 'on track' and nesting again.

Wouldn't you know.. Red decided to nest that night!!!

Since it was cool and the sun was 'dappling' thru the trees.. [ until the 'trance' pics that is ].. this old camera and photographer just couldn't get it right. Worst pics ever..

Typical "trance"! I literally picked her up by the rear of her carapace and 'robbed' her nest each time she laid an egg!

i see nothing wrong with the photos! you documented the occasion, right? that's what counts. the 'trance' photos you always capture are fascinating. it'd be something to see that in real life someday. does the trance immediately end after she's done laying? does she rest after laying or eat or...?

Congrats For the eggs Terry :)

I do not agree with you, these pics are very nice :). The trance pic is amazing, the look she has in her eyes... wow.

Josh once they are finished with laying they will of course begin covering the nest by reaching out with their hind legs and 'raking' in the dirt to cover the hole. I can set her aside for a minute to retreive any eggs that may remain and she will continue the motion until she is satisfied! This process may take another 1/2 hour or longer...
