Hi all! My tort’s bigger enclosure comes in the mail soon and I need to get better substrate for him. Would you guys recommend this brand of coco coir on Amazon?

Also, would you suggest that I put 50/50 of coco coir and reptibark in his enclosure?

thanks!

A bigger enclose in the mail? That sounds like it might still be too small.

I wouldn't use coco coir for an adult Russian. The reptibark by itself will work best. If you do buy the coir, just be sure there are no additives of any kind. You can get good clean coir from Prococo.com.

Okay, I will stick with the reptibark then. I read that coco coir was the #1 recommended substrate so that’s why I figured I should try that.

Everyone you ask is likely to have a #1 favorite.

Coco coir works best for baby Testudo, but orchid bark works best for lager ones.
