I have a quick question. I've read on a few threads that a coil UVB light is not good for a tort. I've been using a 13W Exo-Terra Repti Glo light and I figured that was okay, but when inspecting it, it looks like a coil to me. Is this okay to use or no? I'm adding a link to the light I use. Also, if this is not appropriate, where should I get a more appropriate one? Exo Terra Repti-Glo

Not sure if that ones okay or not... I don't think so.

But I use these 2 on enclosures. I like both of them... If that helps :)

The pics didn't show up for me last time... Hope this works

Can I use a 100W if I'm only using a 13W right now? Will that be too much for him?

Those are exactly the type I recommend against. I have seen those damage tortoise eyes.

The Mercury Vapor Bulbs are a totally different thing. The CFL bulbs are just for light and UV while the MVBs give off heat, light and UV. Your 13 watt coil bulb is not heating your enclosure, the Powersun will. You would have to figure this in to your heating and lighting strategy and make adjustments where necessary.

So I have my new bulb I got the Flukers 100W sunspot UVA/B and heat, I have it straight above his enclosure and I can't get it any warmer than 90*F and he needs at least 95 for a basking spot and so I'm not sure what more I can do to heat that particular spot...the rest of his enclosure is between 70-85

First what are you using to test the temp? A infrared temp gun is the best. Around 25 bucks at Home Depot or similar stores. Second, if the temp is correct, you might need to lower it a little or get a larger wattage. I would get a temp gun first if your not using one.

It looks like you are using the clamp and don't have it set on the wire. If you put it directly on the wire it will raise your temps.
