I have always taken the chair in for service where I got it. I should look at the owners manual and see how to change the batteries. I have never priced out the batteries because the repair bill is always sent to the insurance company.
I have a agreement with my insurance handler. That if we are going to purchase anything over 500.00 for my care. That we get approval from them first. We don't abuse it, so they have been very accommodating. So if the batteries are less than 500.00 and I can change myself. That's what I will do. There have been a few things that have broken on the chair.I have purchased the parts on Amazon and repaired myself. I know I saved the insurance company a lot of money.
I think the batteries are more than that but I could be wrong. And I'm not sure if they are a diy project. I have a friend though that knows. I'll call and ask.

The 2 batteries it takes used to be around $450 for the both for an electric wheelchair. That's pretty cheap and I bet the insurance company would like to do that instead of a new wheel chair. That's if it costs a bit more for the 2 now. Inflation! My friend gets 20 or more miles from a charge. He couldn't stop talking when I asked him about wheelchair batteries 🤗

This folks is what love looks like. That's a huge thing to share Magz, I don't overlook that....drug sick, the smell of that sweat....ugh....the "yuckys"....heck, wasn't a picnic I presume? Doubt it was for your Sis either, right? Your grouchy, sick bum dragging around, bit complaining about everything...but she did it for you...."she didn't seem to care, "get up" she'd holler." Them kind of debts can only be paid forward.....and I'm sure you have so it's ok to feel really good about coming back from that stuff. Supergirl?

Ray, what voltage? They make testers that are super cheap that will tell you the % overall of life left, not charge, but the total capacity. There is likely some threshold for replacement from the Ins co once they drop to a certain level. They don't want you to get stuck in the street because you are a rural user...and that's exactly how you frame it when you call. They are just trying to keep folks from taking advantage. I keep thinking of the South Park episode with teacher with a chair who ran out of juice in the middle of the road.....

I took Kerry home a couple hours ago, gathered my overnight bag and came home....kinda sad to leave so quickly but I'm pretty beat. Kerry spent the morning running up to Walmart for 200 bucks worth of bins for my daughter who was at work and then clearing out the room she will be in. She cleared the long dresser and closet bare, added another bookcase then reorganized the other bdrm for storage of that stuff + room for daughters new bins. I told daughter who is off for her weekend Mon &Tues to take ALL of the bags of clothes(she has more clothes than the Queen of Morocco) to the laundromat and let them wash it all....I also gave daughter Discover card cause I think it's going to be more than a a couple of nickels.

Going to grab some Royal Farm chicken we got while getting my truck filled....and crash.

enjoy the night

Some carts have good mileage for each charge. The cart I have is larger for me and the larger electric motors use more energy. The way my policy is set up. I am aloud a new chair every 5 years. I really should get another chair, so I could take this one to Michigan. So I would have a chair in both places.

Yes I got a bunch of info from my friend. He's an around 50 years paraplegic. He said if the chair works good do batteries. And spare chairs are good too 😜 so whatever you decide in your situation would be good. He has a couple of electric and a couple of manual. The chairs last but the batteries don't. He's allowed the 2 new batteries it takes for his favorite chair once a year with his insurance.

I want to get a chair up to Michigan. So I can fly instead of driving. I have read so many horror stories about airlines damaging your chair. Some people have their chairs damaged so bad. That they are not functional. The airline generally pays for repairs or a new chair. Everything I have read says it takes months. Nothing worse than getting to your destination and don't have a chair.
I get a magazine for amputees and have read articles about it.
One of our Senator's Tammy Duckworth who is a double amputee. Is trying to get some laws passed. They say on average everyday there are 32 wheelchairs damaged by airlines.

Not sure of the voltage. I am going to do some research. I will find a manual online. I am sure Rose has mine filed away but it will be easier for me to find online.

Actually, from what Ms Cathie says, you got a new chair coming if you want it, but I'd get the batteries replaced first, wait 3 mos THEN ask about a replacement chair!

Got to play the game the way they give it to you!

basement saga
My daughter looked like she'd been in a football game when I got home today, hauling wet, soppy clothes to her car.....the trails of water from front door to her car indicated that she had made a BUNCH of trips! LOL She did the girl at the laundromat to charge her by the pound, AFTER they are dry!

Erie called today, they will be out tomorrow to review, but I'm covered for everything...........whew! We always expect things to be covered, but we still hold our breath till they tell us so!! I do.....the work those five guys did Sat, by the hour is worth prob 7500 bucks, plus rentals on 14 fans & 2 dehumidifiers for 2-3 days Yikes! The equip is generating so much heat, my heat never kicked on last light and it remained 71F all night inside!

Ex called to take my temp over the flood I think. I was sure to tell her how wonderfully daughter is handling everything then she actually said, "you have always amazed me with how you can be so calm in a storm, no matter how big but fly off at the little things" LOL she still loves me, and she knows me well.
Honestly, I pay $1,783 not to worry about my home each year. I told Kerry Sat morn...honey, we pay a lot of money for insurance, so we don't have to worry about our homes, I'm not about to pay AND worry! It's only money hon, doesn't matter, I can be calm.

I heard FROGS this morning at work, lot of 'em and it's FEB!!! 62F outside here today......

That's really a sad thing that airlines would be so careless with a person's life line. Then not only damage a multi thousand dollars wheelchair but take months to get the situation fixed. I don't understand how it isn't already illegal to do that.

My thoughts exactly with our beloved Ray. I'm glad it's working out for you with the flood in your basement. Time to think about remodeling 😁 for free woohoo 🎉 were the frogs breeding or just getting ready? Once I got to hear breeding. It's different than just a lot of frogs singing. When they are breeding it's different. It's really a beautiful song and ordered like a choir. I didn't know what I was hearing until later when I read about it in a book or newspaper.🤗

Probably should get some new tires also. The tires on the chair right now. Have no tread what so ever. 😁

That looks like a good plan to me 😉 my friend said never get rid of good wheels. Fix em up first then later get a new one for backup. He also said to make sure the batteries are wheelchair batteries. He tried a diy thing and the others won't work. 😜. One of his manuals is a racing chair he's had for at least the 30+ years I've known him. Good luck with your plan 🤗🙏

Just got back from Delray Beach, Florida! We went to the Delray Beach Open which is the ATP 250 tennis tournament. It was so nice down there and I caught two signed tennis balls from the same guys! Hans Hach Verdugo and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela

Beautiful daffs! I found one lonely crocus in my garden, and the primroses are growing but no flowers yet. My camellia is full of buds but still not flowered.
Our temps are about normal for Feb at the moment but heading back down again to low 30sF again later this week and there's still talk of snow in the next couple of weeks :( but it looks it will mainly affect the north of the UK.

Well done - it takes some doing to catch one so to catch 2 is quite an achievement!
They should fetch a good price on ebay ;):)

Good morning/afternoon all,
It's chilly and grey here today.
Nothing exciting happening - just a trip to the library and local shops planned.
I hope you have a good Tuesday whatever you're all up to.
