Guess what I did yesterday...and am up after 3 hrs of sleep b/c I'm overtired? Give up? You should, you will never guess;

I built a Beaver dam, a retaining wall type dam about 15-20 feet long for now. We have the creek eating the bottom of the hill and into our yard. While water is nice, it can be a real problem at the tail end of a creek b/c of the wetlands bringing down the trees. I like trees, so I fight back.

I slogged down the hill and into the muck to drive in my anchor poles...I was able to push in a 4" thick branch, 3 feet deep into the mud! The beaver dam is the simplest to erect using a couple of long logs and a pile of Christmas tree boughs to start the intertwining between the logs, then I built it up 18" or so. and caked it using leaves and natural peat....then I repeated the process so it's a double thick barrier. I'll wait to see if this is a good solution before extending it.

The neighbor has tried building his yard up with leaves and yard debris but his yard doesn't have any "woods" so he doesn't have much natural material to work with. I have 3 years of a brush pile to reinvest!

The retirement curse is a real thing and I seem to see a fairly common situation. Someone stops working for a living and thinks they "earned a rest" and they take it....and get a LONG one!

I stopped working b/c I wanted to do what I want to do now, not what someone wants me to do. There's no "stop", just redirecting my times and energy to MY wishes!

And more mess to clean up.

Natrah
Yep but he's going to be a very small dog. The exact size I have to have and the mix of breeds I like and have been wanting for a long time. I think he'll like Razberri because she's the color of his mother. I do have some mixed feelings about hoping I can do my best for him. But I have backup family members if I can't. Really though I think I can.

And I can get a lot of advice right here on TFO and tips. We even have our own famous dog trainer right here that willingly types his heart out for us.🤗

I'm glad that I went up to see him at the show.

Kerry & I decided not to "do Val day"..we're getting married in 2 weeks 3 days, what's the point? Anyway, she broke the rules and left a card for me to find this morning. What a sweetie. So I snuck over to pick up her ring that had been getting resized from the Western shore and the wedding sand that was delivered to my home. I'll let her find both this evening.....

"Wedding sand"? WT*? but when your girl looks at you with sparkling eyes, excited about selecting colors, you don't question the fact that they actually found someone foolish enough to pay 100 bucks for a couple pounds of sand....nope, you just go with it! Wow, got to love the entrepreneurship required to sell sand to folks on the Atlantic ocean! LOL

enjoy the evening guys....and girls....Happy Valentines day to each of you....you all warm my soul! Pretty special group here.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I'm having such a wonderful day. My sister in law loves my chicken salad and I was thinking about making some today. I even had everything ready to throw it all together. She must have a built in homing device for it. I haven't made it for a few months until today. She texted me on her way to her doctor appointment for her broken arm that went thru surgery and dunned me about it. I was thinking she must be a psychic and well I went ahead and threw it all together.... so she could have some on her way home g ma ny 😜😁

You may get lucky and one will pick you. If that happens you will know it.IMG_20240203_111238547.jpgthis little feller at 2 weeks 5 days finally managed to to sit up in front of me and bark. It was so cute 🥰 he's only about 9 days there in the picture. He is 3 weeks today 🤗 I keep feeling like he's coming to me. He's my puppy.🤗

At 3 weeks all 5 senses sould be working, his sight and hearing may not be 100% but he should be able to hear and see you, even if blurred somewhat. I see a beautiful future spoiled puppy that will love you more than himself.
Cathie must be close to collecting him now.

No I've only picked him up once and that wasn't for very long. I'll wait for the little one to be ready as other members here have said is best. So that's around March 21st give or take. I'm visiting my brother and the puppies once a week. It was so fun to just watch them. Mom had yapped and griped at me and so the pups knew she was there 😁 so they all started wiggling around trying to find her 😁🤗it was their first stages of being able to sit up for a few seconds 🥰 I think I might have seen my puppy's first bark🤗
