Wanted to add that model trains usually aren't electric here and most often wooden. The most traditional and maybe also most common brand here is the Swedish Brio. Me and my siblings got a big box of them from our older cousin and got some extra parts later among the years. Google Brio wooden model trains to find out what model train nostalgia means for Finnish children!

Those are seriously cool. I had a friend who carved similar ones, but he didn't make tracks for his.

That's lovely!
Is this where I tell you abut how the cat liked to sleep inside the tunnel we had when I was a kid, and how it was great fun to run the train when she was. Sometimes the tunnel would get up and dash away. (Hmmm....maybe that's where loving tortoises came from... something with a hard covering moving weirdly...)

Nice little Christmas feature on YouTube:

Why We Put Model Trains Under A Christmas Tree

My brother who is 9 yrs older than me. Had a Lionel train set. I remember playing with it all through my grade school days. Somehow it made it through my childhood. With all the boxes for each car also the box to store it all. It was always displayed under the Christmas tree. I guess it was so well built and continued to work. I never got a train set for Christmas. 🤔(maybe I need to get professional help because of that)🤣🤣
Anyway he has it displayed in his house now.

That is interesting, I am going to research a little more. See if they can be purchased here.

Good morning all, I hope you are all well.

It's been a hectic week or so with shopping, shopping and even more shopping - and wrapping of course. Then there's been the meals out with friends, Carol services and school concerts to attend as well as family visitors and visits. I don't know why we don't spread it out through the rest of the year at less busy times.
Anyway I still have 2 more gifts to buy wrap and deliver so I'll be in the shops again this morning.

I'm looking forward to sitting down later and catching up with all your posts.

Meanwhile happy Xmas Eve I hope you're all better organized than me!
