We've had such cold weather today. It was only 8°f this morning with wind-chill below 0. It's 9°f now. There was a bit of snow flurries today and I can't even attempt to go outside. I'm so thankful though and yet so sad. I haven't lost electricity and our home is warm. I feel for my fellow Americans that aren't as fortunate right now. Some with no homes due to the fires in California and the other disasters that have happened recently in the Carolinas and more. This cold is going to have really hard effects on my neighbors south of me. Probably more than me because they're not equipped to deal with storms and cold weather like this. So my prayer is for this artic vortex to go back to where it belongs.🙏 in the artic with the icebergs. Keep them frozen.
There have been some terrible disasters all over the US and world. I only hope your new government, ours and others world wide will take steps forward to deal with climate change. They have to take it seriously.
Stay warm Cathie!

They had all the ceremony inside the first time in 40 years because of the cold. I didn't watch it but I never do anyway. I'm glad we have another president elected by US. I wish him well and that he does what's right for US. I

I hope to not be breaking any rules....
I don't make it a secret that I write politics under another name. The subject matter is really evolution but we call it politics. I have met the man and honestly, I thought as some of our friends feel prior to meeting him that personally I wouldn't like him. Truth is, I have never met anyone that actually met him and didn't like him! even my most liberal & gay friend was astonished to find that he liked him as well. I guess he's like Bill in that respect and I was never one of his fans prior to meeting him. As always, some will be happy, some will not but it's all the evolution of a society as it decides where to invest it's wealth. Don't get too upset or happy, things WILL change again as sure as water will freeze outside today! Again, not trying to break any rules or to upset anyone here.

On another note....i bought bedding for the owl box I put up but with temps so cold, I don't feel like climbing a tree!

I used tramadol for the first time when I was having the problem with pinched nerves in my back. It really didn't get rid of the pain completely but it did relieve the anxiety. The drawback was like you said. I lost all track of time and still can't believe the things I forgot to do. It's taken a while for me to catch up with my paperwork for Joe because of it.
Yeah, since it didn't help with the lower back much. I decided I would rather hurt than walk around like a zombie. Plus I have 3 other areas of my body that hurt. So what's one more.

Have you ever looked into herbs? I got to thinking about hops and whether or not it can just be used as an herb instead of my favorite beer. And it's surprising how good of an herb it really is for anxiety and such stuff. Relieving anxiety actually helps with pain at least that's what I've found over the years of living with it. I know you quit drinking but hops the herb itself combined with your other therapys could possibly enhance each other. I've found with herbs that you really don't get the hangover feeling you get from pharmaceuticals . It only took me a few minutes of checking hops out to find sources for it in sleep aids and other types of herbal supplements using it. Maybe your doctors could find one that's right for you. Or just an herbal tea. My little search was really interesting.😊
That sounds like it will be worth the try.
Thanks

Another long, cold sub-freezing night. Overnight visitors included three cats, a fox and Rocky Raccoon. Each one looking for morsels of missed treats (cat food, chicken wings).

Tonight, I’m tossing some apples out for Rocky & friends.

I’m guessin @Ray--Opo is shivering too.

Also Ray, check out CBD/hemp products. Many docs have encouraged its use. A pill or two (max) at night does wonders for pain management & sleep.

Thanks Mark, I have tried the gummies before. They didn't seem to work. I will try the brand that you just sent me.

Good afternoon/evening all.
The cold, dry, calm weather continues here. It will be all change for the weekend with weather warnings in place for 50+ mph winds on the way. So we have to make the most of the next few days.
Has the arctic vortex arrived in parts of the US yet? I've not really paid much attention to the news this week.
I've had a quiet couple of days and not much planned for the rest of the week, but plenty I should be doing. It's true what they say 'procrastination is the thief of time'.
There's another way to look at procrastination.
It just means you are a very patient person!😁

It was 1° this morning and the wind chills even lower. My furnace that my son calls the flame thrower couldn't get the temperature above 74°f most of the day. I saw videos on TV of my crazy fellow Americans in the South though enjoying the once in a lifetime experience of snow though. They were having snowball fights, sledding, you name it. Even adults were playing in it. I loved watching it. I guess we're very resilient.😊

I read this an hour ago and it "stuck" with me, then I figured it out (Doh!)! Other than deer, squirrels and birds, all the others are hunkering down around here. I haven't seen anything else on the cams in several days. They might have more access to easy food over on this side of the Bay but more likely, your "guys" are so much more tame from living in close. I dunno....but glad you are making it a little easier on them.

It must be weird having snow in areas that don't usually see it. I feel sorry for the wildlife that can't adapt to it though. I bet there'll be a lot of lizards and maybe even torts etc. lost. ☹️

Good morning all.
It's very wet here and the wind is picking up. We and the wildlife could probably do with the rain as January has been pretty dry, but I don't like the strong winds especially when they last for days.
I hope you're all keeping warm and coping with whatever the weather is throwing at you.
I'm busy sorting out my paperwork and going through some bank statements because I found an email in an old account which had an invoice attached from a hotel I've never been to. I haven't opened it in case it's a scam, but I'm hoping it's a mistake and that there's no charges made to my account or any other nasty surprises. You never know these days. 😟
TTFN and happy Thursday.

The 5th day in a row. We have not had any sun. That is unusual for Florida unless we have a hurricane coming in. With 50° and raining, Opo hasn't been out in 4 days. That has never happened before. Ms.Sully will come out around 2 or 3. Do a little grazing and I give her a little snack. We are still getting to be friends. She will let me rub her head and neck. If I move to quickly she is still jittery.

The torts are probably in burrows. Native lizards with them. Iguanas however may be falling from the trees. I've seen a Robin again today which usually signals spring though. I'm afraid for them and the other birds that are confused and here early. And we'll be having another cold day tomorrow according to the forecast. It's 28°f now though and that's warmer than what the forecast said it would be. I'm praying we're on a warming trend 🙏😘🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
