My sister's partner has had a couple of trips to Malaysia recently. His elderly parents are struggling in their apartment so he has been sorting out a care home for them. My goodness they are expensive out there and he will be paying for it
They are actually Indian but have lived in Malaysia for many years both used to be doctors.

I met up with one of my cousins for a coffee today, not seen her for years even though she doesn't live too far away. It was nice to catch up face to face rather than on the phone.

My son got to see a kettleling of Red tailed Hawks this spring. He said it was incredible. I wish I had been there. Of course we had to Google the phenomenom which led to studying Thermals, Hawks, and all. I can't even begin to tell how incredible the process is. I didn't know that only some of them migrate. But I do know that you will usually only see one in around a 2 mile radius. During a kettleling though you can see hundreds gathering together and it's within a thermal weather incident. It'll be Spring or fall and very unusual to get to witness it because the thermal can happen anywhere.

Good evening/morning/afternoon all. It's a bit of a grey day but temps are set to hit the 70sF next week - just as the kids go back to school after their Easter break.

I've done very little today as I was waiting for the utilities company to come and change the gas supply pipe to my house. They are replacing all the copper pipes with plastic and digging up the whole street in the process so I am living in a very holy place 😇 ( oops sorry - meant holey!😉)
We are spoiled for choice for holes to fall down, although the they are fenced off and most have covers at least half over the them. I go out with a torch most nights to make sure there aren't any hedgehogs trapped.

They eventually came to reconnect the new pipe to my meter but discovered that I have a gas leak somewhere, so they have capped the meter until I get someone to check everything. I have never smelt gas or had higher bills than I was expecting so it was a surprise to me, but I'm perfectly safe now and not going to blow myself sky high. 💥
I don't actually use much gas these days and want to get rid of some appliances likey my old rarely used cooker and some never used gas fires so it's a good chance to do that now, and to finally replace the boiler. Time to make some decisions - which I'm terrible at and why I've kept putting things off but I've been given a nudge.

Wow Lyn, my weekend is boring by comparison. Congrats! LOL I love how you deal with things...good and bad with a great attitude....very cool.

I just did the work after I took the engine advice from a seasoned professional. For the 1st time ever i think, I followed someone else's advice without first testing my own diagnosis. We'll see how it turns out...i can't test it till it's nice and dry pm the roads. I'm not foolish enough to take a bike nicknamed "Widowmaker" out on wet pavement. Not when the specific goal is to wring its neck a bit....im too old to fall down!

Below is a picture of Jacky enjoying her first strawberries of the year. I remember her having to fight with Daisy (1942 - 2022) for her share🐢🐢. Lynn you mentioned care homes in Malaysia recently. I don't remember care homes when I was there but I cared for dad with Alzheimer's until he had to go into a home. I remember Cathie saying that she was a dementia nurse. Cathie I hope you're feeling better.

I wasn't a nurse. I was what they called an RNA. Now they call them a STNA. I did enjoy patients with that though. Even with Alzheimer's. When you take care of them they will talk to you. They don't always know how to say what they're trying to say. You have to read between the lines. But it's wonderful that they still try and it just pops out. You know that it's straight from their heart.🙂

I used to work with people who had Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, etc. And you are absolutely right about the feedback they give you.....
Now I work with cancer clients and that's not easy.....

Oh yes- the series with David Suchet as Poirot is on all the time on one channel, but the other actors versions are also shown a lot. I think DS is the best. Miss Marple is another regular that's repeated.
