That's a rough way to start the day Ms Cathie....."dragging". Mind racing?

Blue Lights next door this morning(at the 7-11), 2 cars...must be an overachiever?

I have to say, for August, it's been a cakewalk weather-wise in this area. I know what hades looks like now, I've been there; Florida-n-Aug! I think Mark would agree, we've had an easy summer here for the most part and comparatively, it's been spectacular!

You were right BD, I nearly bought the tankless water heater....the $'s are just so blatant that it's a sin I'm not going to switch! I had never really looked at them before so thanks for spurring the curiosity. I had a basic knowledge...expensive but much more efficient but nothing beyond.

I have a top-leaking water heater. That is an unpredictable leak. As of yesterday, I am turning my water off when I leave my home & when I sleep!!---that's sketchy! Timing is always great for these things though isn't it? I'd really like to wait till the Labor-Day sales next week, then buy it in Delaware- no tax....but I'm not living with having to turn my water off....that's just stupid.
BUT
I'm committed to going to NY Sat for Dad's party, then we are stopping in NJ on the way home early Sun to have breakfast with a couple we met in Jamaica....so my plan is as we pass through DE, I'll stop and buy a new sales-tax-free 50 gallon heater and take it home. They would deliver it for free from the local branch but then I'd pay the 40-some bucks in tax.

Pearle vision called and left a msg that my new super-duper glasses are done. I have a chiro apt at noon, then I'll go get them before heading over to Kerry's at some point tonight.

I guess I should go do some work.....poor Brandon, I heard him tell someone on the phone yesterday "that's why we drink on the weekends". See? There's his problem right there..............I told him too! "That's why your so miserable, you're waiting for the weekends"

Enjoy the day guys....
The nice part was for some reason I felt like I'd had a good nights sleep. I must have been power napping on and off all night.

At least you didn't wake up feeling like you'd been put away wet!

I made my chiropractic appointment, got my new glasses from Pearls and made it over the bridge with no traffic!

Now I'm just waiting for Kerry to get home.

Sitting outside...animals everywhere...saw an Eagle when I first came out and I think a deer slipped into the creek while crossing it a few minutes ago, heard a very loud splash! LOL

We're going to have to go for a bike ride, it's beautiful out!

I checked the tortoise table and it is not there. Here is a picture of Japanese stiltgrass
It looks a bit like bamboo, but I wouldn't risk feeding it until you can be sure it's safe. Have you posted this on the Diet and Food threads? There may be a US member who knows. Also google it to see if it has any alternative names that could be listed on the TT.

Good afternoon/evening all.
We've had some more heavy showers and hail today and it's been quite a chilly evening - I put a heater on for the first time in months. I went out about 10.30p.m. to see if the hedgehog was about and was surprised to see it was cold enough to see my breath! It's feeling quite autumnal already especially with it being dark before 9 now.
No h/hog yet though - from looking at my camera he's been spending most of the night in my garden.
I've been helping my nephew the last couple of days - he needs some new household things and a new bed so we've been shopping. He may just get a good mattress topper, which would be easier for now. The authority are closing the flats where he lives and building new ones so I'm hoping we can leave the new bed until the move there.
I hope you're all having a good weekend so far.

You have wild Hedgehogs Lyn? I guess they have to live wild somewhere, I just never thought about where they lived. The UK? hmm, learned my "new thing for the day" early....it's only 2am!
Oh yes Jeff, hedgehogs have always been wild here in the UK and used to be one of the most common nocturnal mammals in the countryside. Sadly though they are an endangered species now with loss of habitats and food sources, or,killed by garden tools like strimmers. chemicals and roads etc. There are many hedgehog rescue places that take them in if they are injured or aren't heavy enough to survive hibernation. They help them and feed them up until they can be released back into the wild, but sadly the numbers of hogs have plummeted in the UK. So it's quite special to have one using my garden.
They aren't kept as pets here - it may even be illegal but I'm not sure about that.

I have belonged to the Hedgehog Preservation Sosiety for many years. The society does a lot of school education, and is encouraging builders to make Hedgehog Highways when new walls are erected between houses, etc, as hedgehogs tend to travel a long way at night, largely through hedges, so a new wall will shut them off from their food supply. Also they are putting little flights of steps in the holes below cattle grids, to help them escape if they fall in.
We have has several little families coming here in our garden over the years.

If you ever hear a hedghog foraging for food, you will undertand the "hog" bit of their name - I remember being terrified as a child one night , hearing the little creature snuffling and snorting very loudly outside the window.!
The "hedge" bit of the name comes from the fact that they like to choose to go along hedges to get their food - slugs etc . You can buy hedgehog food (not slugs) from pet shops, and we always keep some handy -just in case!

Up in NY now...we stopped and bought the water heater in DE on the way up this morning and Kerry took my truck to get washed once we got here. It looks great.

I have my replacement water heater in my truck to deal with that issue....then yesterday as we get to Long Island, my front brakes start making that scrapping noise...meaning I need front brakes, now! Really God? AGAIN? LOL

Life sure isn't boring.....but I need to work on the type of surprises I get....the financial ones are beating me up!

Going to see my Crazy Albanian friend Dashi and his wife for breakfast.....should be fun.....see God, THOSE are the things we like, not broken water heaters & brakes!

Enjoy the day guys....

Btw- I so much wanted to take a video of Dad's Parkinson's ridden girlfriend eating her cake yesterday aiming for her mouth. She's a nice women who loves me but it was priceless, Kerry wouldn't let me videotape it. She says...im just not "right"

Nice day....
That blue car would be a nightmare to park in ,my street - and take up half of it!!:D
Puts me to shame - I'm trying to downsize from my Fiesta as finding a parking spot for that is getting harder. I may end up with a moped!
