I agree about the hearing. I know the sound of my voice. Isn't processed like a human ear. So I believe it's a vibration thing. At anytime wherever Opo is in the yard. Even if he is walking away from me. When I say his name he stops walking. If I continue to call his name. 85% of the time he will turn around and come to me.
Whenever I'm speaking to Lola and say something like 'show me your lovely face' he always lifts his head up as if to say 'here it is' and that happens every time. I know it probably is just the the tone of voice rather than understanding, but it's funny how he always does it. He also always heads in my direction if I make a tutting or clicking sound 😃

Lyn you might want to bring some rags and ammonia. Soak the rags with ammonia and stick in places they might use. If their in there they will leave. If they have been away from the pile they won't enter. It has worked for me a few times. When skunks or raccoons have tried to setup home under my shed. The idea was given to me from our local animal control.
I couldn't get close enough to speak to anyone today. The gate to the site was locked and they were on the far side of it so couldn't see me. I've put some signs up, but will go back earlier tomorrow. The bonfire is on a smaller patch of locked land so no health and safety issues.

When Richard goes into Zola's conservatory and speaks to him, he will often ignore his dad's voice,if he is resting under his light, but if I then go in too, and say something like "Hello, baby boy" Zola will instantly move his head ! He also comes out running to the conservatory entrance if he hears me make the slightest sound outside the sliding door leading into our livingroom. I do talk to him a lot - I have also been known to read him poetry - and Shakespeare - and he always listens to me - he knows the sounds are directed at him, I'm sure.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just confined to the 5th and restricted to organized events, but people who have bought fireworks have been setting them off for the last 2 weeks and they are so loud! I almost had a heart attack when I was in my garden last week when some numpty set off one in the afternoon which sounded like a bomb. I jumped so much I dropped the bird feeder I was filling.

People are more aware now of the effects these loud bombs have on pets, farm animals, wildlife, older people and sufferers of PTSD etc; there are calls for bans on them and many shops only sell the pretty and quiet fireworks now.
I think it's a tradition we could do without.
Me too. 😊

Yes they seemed to support each other and they had unique relationship considering tortoises are supposed to be solitary

I sometimes wonder if my brother can hear. He'll turn as if he hears someone walking up behind him. I can get him to answer a door if I knock loudly and etc... he's profoundly deaf but evidently one or several of his senses developed stronger. Maybe we develop it too but just don't notice the vibrations because we don't have to.😊😉

Good morning all, still dry and grey here and not as cold as it should be.

I've been loitering around the construction company's site hoping to find someone to speak to but no luck yet. I've put several signs up warning of hedgehogs in the bonfire area but often if people don't care about wildlife they'll ignore them.
I'm going back soon. It's really worrying me.

I hope you're all having a good Tuesday.

Good morning Lyn,

It's not much better here but I expect to see fireworks later. I don't blame you for worrying about the hedgehogs especially tonight

What a scrumptious desert N! Wow, wish you were my neighbor!

A Beautiful day here today and I slept over 9 hours straight, a new record since 2018!
Some allergy medicine the Dr gave me last week did it.

Kerry and I do dumb things and we do them together. Yesterday we drove 35 miles to the grocery store when Kerry realizes she forgot her purse.
"Don't worry baby, I got...." No, I didn't have my wallet either! LOL
70 miles....lol

Enjoy the day guys!

Dear Jeff,

Many years ago when I was a child we were getting ready to go to the airport to fly from Malaysia to the UK and at the last minute I remembered my glasses🤣. Upon reaching the UK I suddenly remembered my tooth brace🤣! Of course I was told off by mum!

As someone who has had different braces and retainers as a kid (and still), this story is way too familiar.
