There are 1 or 2 pistons in the caliper. Back in the day you could by rebuilding kits for a caliper. But like most auto parts they either don't sell a rebuilding kit. Or the price for a new one caliper isn't much more than the kit. Plus changing out a caliper. Would be cheaper labor than to rebuild one. The thing is they might want to change brake pads on both sides. Jeff is right about it being cheaper than buying a new car.
Good luck
About 30 years ago i walked into the auto parts store and asked for an alternator rebuild kit. The guy had never even heard of one. They don't let you rebuild anything now....they do it and charge you 75% of the "new part". LOL

We took the kayaks out...too nice a day not to! 20250926_112638.jpg
After we came back in and were loading stuff 2 of the girls staying at the Airbnb next to the dock asked for kayak pointers as the home had 2 for their use. As Kerry is showing them how to get into it....a snake swims by. A juvy brown water snake. The girls didn't overreact surprisingly...but I doubt they went boating! FYI... 20 yr old black girls don't like snakes as a general rule....even less than most 20 yr old white girls!

I am keeping a eye on the nest. I tried hooking up a cctv camera that I had when Opo was a little tort. Couldn't get it to hook up to the wifi. I reloaded the app but still no success. I read they like to reveal themselves at night. When they feel the temperature drop at night. They come out under the cover of night. They make a type of cage, that you can put over the nest. So they can't get away. But to me it doesn't seem right to mess with mother nature. The eggs are in a fairly large flower bed. With only one way to get out. So hopefully I will get a look at some of them.
They'll probably stay a while the way you have the flower bed. . Maybe later develop a larger roaming territory.😊 Especially since they're in their natural habitat. They'll visit but at least they have an incubator. I love it. I always stick the little baby toads I find in Sapphire's outdoor enclosure. They can get out at night but they are still protected with water dishes and shelter. It's cute to watch them taking advantage of a flat water
dish. I usually only get one or two a year. But that's one or two. They get comfortable 😁 in my backyard 😉 IMG_20250926_170534.jpg

Leg is much better. I will have a hematoma on my shin for quite awhile. My sleep has really been interrupted because of phantom pains. So lately I get virtually no sleep for 2 or 3 days. Then when my body and mind wear out. I get some sleep but that generally seems to be during the day. So when I am in zombie mode. I don't get much accomplished. But things are getting back to normal. So I will start being productive again.
I hate accidents. They're usually stupid clutzy things that take forever it seems to heal. I hope since your leg is feeling better that the healing speeds up but try to be idle for a little longer. Don't overdo it too quickly. 👃 But Preacher teach thyself.(its hard after all the down time right). be like a tortoise 🐢 🐢 🐢

Dear Ms Sully and Opo,

Jacky was at vets yesterday and her checkup went well. I mentioned the Gopher family to the vet and she said that they lay about forty eggs! Will you be pleased to see them all?

Natrah

PS: Jacky had a bath before going to the vets followed by her breakfast with her supplements. After breakfast she decided to turn the food bowl into a basking table complete with the supplements including turmeric 🤣🤣 🤣 🤣. I tried to clean her up before her appointment but of course she had another surprise for the poor vet...

What sort of toad is that Cathie? It looks like the species that keeps its eggs under the skin then the young toads pop out of holes when they are fully developed. I think they are pretty rare though and maybe not found in North America.

I just googled it - it's a Surinam toad that does that. There's a good YouTube video showing how they breed and hatch young.

After reading your post I realized it has been 30 years since you could rebuild parts.
The carburetor on my power washer needed to be rebuilt. So I called around and finally found a rebuild kit. The guy said 21.00 for the kit. Then he said 23.00 for a new carburetor. You can guess what I bought.

I know for sure the little toad is not that toad. It's just a regular Ohio toad. I forget what kind. I'll have to look it up again for me and you. They've been here for years though. Finding all the different pictures would be impossible. But I found a perfect way to store them where I can find them again. In my pictures I send to me by text. I looked and looked last night and remembered that I had sent that one to me because it's so cute. On a whim I checked and there it was in the history of pictures sent to me. That's one of my favorite pictures.

I finally tried my hand at a stew with plantain and it worked.😊at least I like it. It's sweet and a bit spicy because I used ripe plantains with chiles. it'll be nice over rice. I'm finding out that what Africans call stew is a wonderful sauce for us in the US. Like spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce would work too. I'm visualizing pizza baked with plantain stew as the sauce already.😎🥴
