Dear Ray,

Yes it's a stick. I should have checked my typing as usual. I hope Rose's relatives will be okay as they have an approaching typhoon.

Natrah
The typhoon that just left. There were over 100 deaths last time I checked. They just got some rain.I didn't know there was another one coming. I will check that out.

How long do you cook it? I'm having trouble finding cardamom. That's strange because it's always been available. Maybe people here don't use it much anymore. I also couldn't find curry leaves but did find curry powder. I've never used cinnamon with meat. This should be interesting 🤔 😊

Do you have an Asian food shop near you Cathie because they should sell curry leaves after you've added the potatoes you should simmer until the potatoes are cooked.

Natrah

PS: Cardamom seeds are available in most of our UK stores Sainsbury's, M & S, Tesco's and probably Lidl, Aldi and Morrisons.

We have an Aldi. Hopefully they haven't fallen into the same habits of the rest of the stores around here. Same stuff different store. I can probably use powder though in smaller amounts to get close to the same taste.

Also we have something that is a shop within our Kroger's stores that sell sushi and stuff. They are something I could look at too. Never thought of it when I was shopping today.

It is a stable here in Finland for baking some of the most common baked goods.

Woohoo FT for the snow! Ironically we might get our 1st snow tomorrow too!

So guys, why does Kerry's dough not rise? She feeds it, uses fresh flour but it's hit or miss often. Any ideas?

Kerry and i did our version of the Iron man yesterday as we reconned a neighbor who lives across the water new deck being built. Walk a half mile, ride bikes for 2 miles, take shower.....same thing right?

Does she put it in a warm place to rise? I put my stuff on top of a working oven...it takes a pretty warm place to rise. We have Oregon's idea of winter...50 degrees and waiting for rain...

Is she keeping it warm, enough humidity?

It still might be that the weather forecast won't come true.

My recommendation is don't kill the yeast with too hot water or veggie stock. Also I always use just a little bit of sugar or honey to desolve it in with oil and stock. Then let the yeast mixture rest. Then start adding your flour. And then it needs kneeding kneeding kneeding. Beat it half to death too. It loves it.

I hate to brag but we got our first snow today 😉 I dread winter. I had to dress up until I'm practically waddling. Two of every stitch of clothes, boots and a heavy coat to stay warm. It wears me out to wear all of that heavy clothing. And of course I had to go out in it. And tomorrow. I started evenity shots today and tomorrow Mr Fre gets scalped. Wednesday it's supposed to start warming back up into the 60's by Saturday. Why can't I get appointments on the warm days!?

Cardamom used to be here too. I don't understand why I couldn't find it. But a lot of people here don't cook anymore so I'll have to find it in a specialty store. Maybe even an herb store. Thank God we have those.
