Dear @Lyn W ,

The temperature at 9.45 am today.View attachment 400534
Too hot for me today.🥵
It's 34C/93F in my garden at the moment.
Lola enjoyed it for a while but he's had enough and come back in, but he's recharged his solar batteries and is stomping around at such a pace it's exhausting watching him! I think I'll give him a soak to help him relax.
It's too hot to go anywhere and just makes me want to sleep so I'm not going to get much done today.
Do you like the heat Natrah,?

I finally decided to look up hedgehogs. I've always associated them with our groundhogs! Turns out I was right in a way. 😊They are a totally different animal than ours though. But how cute can you get! It's interesting though. It's kinda like our robin thing. Groundhog is the US version of the hedgehog weather predictor critters. We started celebrating Groundhog Day because of our memories of hedgehogs.🤗 here's hoping they do well and have several gardens to live.
In the US hedgehogs look paler and smaller and are often kept as pets but they are wild in the UK. They are only kept by people in wildlife rescues centres (like the the red one Linda helped in) if they are found to be sick or injured.
Once recovered they are released back into the wild. They are an endangered species now because of developments, roads, loss of habitats and the effect of climate change on food sources etc.😢

So nice to see you back, @Lyn W , we've missed your part of the conversations, Glad to hear Lola is doing OK . . .
Thank you,❤️
I missed chatting with everyone here, but sometimes life just gets in the way and there aren't enough hours in the day.
I've plenty of time today as it's too hot to do anything.....good excuse to take it easy. Hope you're well.

Dear Marsha,

Below is a picture of Hadleigh Castle which dates from 1200 ADView attachment 400547
Well, you folks definitely built things to last. Over here we have nothing that old, and as time goes on we care less and less about the old stuff, until it gets to the point that it cost more to fix than to tear down and rebuild. You folks are so lucky to have that history, I try to imagine all the hands and eyes that have been laid across that in the last 1000 years...
Thank you Natrah, as I have stated before, With my lil farm, the longest I can be away is a couple of hours, there are NO Vacations, so I live/visit vicariously through my friends pictures & descriptions ...

I'm sad right now, My neighbor Margret two doors up Died in Jan, of 2025. The family cleaned up the house and rented it out to a great family in August of 2025. We lucked out with this family, so nice, and hard workers, respectful kids. I gave them eggs and vegies from the farmers Market to help stretch the budget. They had moved to Crockett, Ca. on the Carquinez Strait's, from Oklahoma them Moved to Margret's Home. Just found out yesterday . . . when they were packing a UHaul Trailer, that they are going back to Oklahoma, I'm really sad.
Sad that I didn't get to know them better, When I asked what was up yesterday they told me.
Ida gave me a bag with some egg cartons and a going away card...I'm shocked and sad.
I went to the farmers Market yesterday and picked up some freestone nectarines. Wrote out a card last night and left the card & nectarines on their front porch last night before retiring.
They left very early this morning...Safe travels my friends, 1650 Miles (2650km) to go.
I don't make friends very easily, and with the Callahan's . . . it was effortless...

Sorry to hear that, it makes all the difference when you have good next door neighbours,
I feel like I'm in a constant state of anxiety when mine are home.
The house on the other side of me is a rental and for the last 6 years there's just been one young lad living there. He never speaks but he's quiet so I'm happy with that, I do worry about who I'll end up next to if he ever decided to move. Hopefully he'll be there a while yet.
I hope your next new neighbours will be ok.

I read things like MG wrote about her friends and I wish I could feel that way. People have always been "chapters" in my book. Most are opened and set down after being partially read but rarely looked at again after once set down. I do hope that you feel better.

Maybe this will help! I saw the 1st fawn of the year this morning. It was deep behind the neighbors house in the ferns. I think it had just been born because it was all brown.....the spots only show up after they dry out.

Yes I saw a lot of that when I looked. Hedgehogs aren't native to the US so.... hopefully people aren't releasing poor little hedgehogs when they get tired of taking care of them.🙏

Dear Jackie,

I came out after my slave served breakfast 😉... I wait for her every morning. She's always prompt because 😉 I have her trained well...It was cold again so I just hung out on my rocks for a while in the sun. Later I decided to hide out in my little hut.

Thank you all (Lyn W., Jeff K., Cathy G ) for the words of support. Ida wrote me a nice card, not really saying why they are leaving to go back to Oklahoma, but she gave me her address and wanted to stay in touch, even saying when I have free time :)rolleyes:) to come and visit. It's a beautiful thought, but My niece got married last year, my brother who lives 15 miles away went to the wedding on the east coast, But I could not leave due to the farm, so visiting Oklahoma is sadly unlikely to happen.....

Here in Finland there are people whose profession it is to enable farmers to take a vacation. Basically they travel to a farm, live there and take care of the animals and give the farmer a chance to travel.
I think that has to be one of the best ideas since sliced bread!

Mama deer was out as it got light out this morning but she's deep into the ferns so it's too dark for pics with anything I have.
It's like looking into this- (don't look she's not there, it's just an example)

I have a noon appointment with Dr Chiropractor. Im a little disappointed in him. For my back/siatica he showed me stretches, did ultrasound several times and other treatments....all he had to do was to tell me to actually ride my ebike instead of using the battery all the time! A couple of 3-5 mile rides and it's gone....all of it! Amazing stuff.... Exercise! LOL I didn't pedal it the whole way yet but im doing more and more of the actual work.

Kerry is in Fla till Thurs night....wonder what kind of trouble I can find before she comes home?

Enjoy the day guys!
