hi everyone:shy:,
i got two stars which live outdoors, they have hides which have rice covers(i don't know what it is called)as substrate ,dry. They are yearlings and it gets too cold (15 deg cent)at night .So, is it ok to keep them out becoz their enclosure is dry (they do have water dishes). Also i don't have a burrow for them .
plz reply,
thank you.

I'm sorry, Ashish...but I don't know enough about the star tortoise to be able to help you. All I can say is that I provide heat in my outside tortoises' houses during the winter time.

15 degrees C is right on the edge of temps I would be comfortable with leaving my 7 year old star out in. I would suggest you use 16 degrees has low temp and bring them in at that temp.

i will bring them in .
should i provide artificial heat (i feel that would decrease their
ability to deal with cold when i put them out again)?

I don't believe you need any extra heat unless your home is cooler than 16 degrees. You may want use a 60 watt or larger bulb to provide a warmer basking area for them.
