Have a 13 yr old Burmese brown 17” @ 42 lbs . Plans are to release my 2 yr old Male Sulcata in the 40ft x 40ft enclosure with her as it warms up . Should I be concerned with mix breeding ? Present situation is 2 yr old Sulcata living in a 7’x16’ enclosure built inside the 40 x40 ft enclosure

It is never a good idea to have two tortoises together. Breeding is not what you should be concerned about if you put two together, instead one will bully the other until one of them dies or is hurt badly enough for you to remove it. Even if it looks like they are getting along, they are not. Territorial dominance is being asserted that humans don't recognize. The invisible stress levels will take a toll on health and their enjoyment of life.

. . . and you should never mix species!

And besides that, the Mee needs to live in a jungle-type area, while the Sulcata requires an open-type grassland area.

Why do you want to put them together anyway 🤔?

Was hoping to avoid building another enclosure. But from what I’ve read here looks like another enclosure is going to be built . We’re on 2.5 acres so room is not an issue . What’s the minimum size enclosure for a future large male Sulcata . Have a heated building for winter time use .
