I am confused when people mention not to use the small compact coil bulb. I am adding a picture... I do not use this bulb, it was given to me...

But is this bulb that is suggested not to use?

Ok that is what I thought, but since there are so many new people on the forum (me included), I thought this thread and a picture might help them make better choices in their lighting.

Thanks...and keep cool. I think we have rain in our forecast. Sure will beat these triple digit days...

No problem and I can understand that, always helps to see a photo to clear up any confusion, and we are hoping for a little rain those triple digit temps are tough.

Yes, what delano73 said, however...

If anyone plans to use the type of bulb that is pictured in this thread please mount it so that it lays sideways and does not point straight down.

You can use an aquarium hood, or if you use the clamp light, you would remove the aluminum bell and just clamp it sideways. Personally, I wouldn't use either type of the CFL (compact fluorescent light).

I wouldn't use either of them either. There are better options (MVBs or tubes) that don't have that risk associated with them.

I have only used the tube type, never wanted to even chance it...
