I took him out from under his log to feed him last night, and fed him his mazuri on his plate.

Today I was out mowing and watching a movie with the family and tonight I went to feed him, and he had hardly eaten, and when I lifted up his log to get him he was dead, underneath it. He had pooped and pushed the coconut coir behind him trapping him I think. He had gone in head first like normal :(

very sorry please accept my condolences. You might also want to check out Rainbow Bridge for tortoises you can do a forum search I wrote it for people who lost their tortoises.

So sorry to hear. @ZEROPILOT had this weird experience with a tort coma where the tortoise became reanimated after some time. I'd say, don't burry her, wait at least 24 hrs. I think after having read all those threads I'd probably wait even longer, till signs of decomposition are obvious (color change, smell)

Thanks for the reply but after I asked I got out of bed and looked in the container and there was a pool of blood in with him :( I dont know when I will bury him yet.

I have read that some tortoises go into a coma if near death. How long should I keep Cookie for?
I'd suggest you wait at least 24 hours and even 48, if you can put up with it.

Thanks everyone for the support. My brother and his wife, and my sister and her husband, and the rest of my family came for his burial.
