Thanks dean. He seems to have a little bit of sheen to his shell like the young little guys. Does that sound crazy? It seems like the babies are shiny and the old big ones are dull like maybe their glossiness gets worn off. Lol maybe thats not the case at all.

It has much more to do with environment than age. The glossiness gets worn off quick when they start burrowing. Ones raised in drier areas like here or Vegas also tend to look duller than ones raised in the south.

That makes sense. They told me ralph never burrowed. Always went in his house or bushes. And the other one has burrowed. And he came from a group that obviously had other males. He has wear marks on his shell from them.

Tortadise i would like to see a pic of your big guy if you get a chance. We see lots of baby pics but not a whole lot of big guys. I did love the thread with the huge sudans. That was awesome.
