Dozer has been with me nearly two weeks and seems to be settling into his new life here in NH.

I give him a 30 minute soak every morning, while I prep his food for the day and clean his enclosure.

The soak, plus the high humidity in his essentially sealed enclosure should help to prevent any worsening of the pyramiding that got started in his previous life.

After not eating much in the first week here, he's begun stepping up... I give him a mix each day of greens and weeds and flowers and squash and zucchini and Mazuri and seaweed.

He feels more dense when I pick him up then when I first met him, and I'm hopeful that I can get him outside during an upcoming hot spell.

BTW, congrats on the new addition to your creep. While you are doing your research, do some searches in TFO on the three, yes three Galapagos that @Bee62 in Germany acquired and was raising there. Sadly she passed away a few years back, but her torts were passed along to reportedly good keepers.

I've been thinking of Bee62 among others the last few days. I'm so glad to see her tortoises are still doing well. 🤗 wonderful 😊

You do realize this is not a Galapagos right?
I thought she had Aldabras?

Oh yes, for sure get him outside.
Can't believe a guy in a trailer thought that a giant tortoise was a good purchase. Was he living on property and not a trailer park at least? That would make more sense.
You could reach out his windows and touch the trailers on either side of him....

Wow! I bet he was going to raise it up a couple years just to sell for profit. The sad thing, the poor thing probably would have been a mess.

be sure to feed leaves, weeds, flowers, grass, soaked chopped hay, cactus, more than veggies.
Yup, not pictured was a mixed pile of collard and dandelion greens along with some seaweed... I supplement the daily salad with the other stuff every 2nd or 3rd day.

I clipped and added a few maple branches to Dozer's enclosure for some enrichment today while he was soaking, and he's been having fun exploring and nibbling the new jungle in his home.

His breakfast (on the tile): collard and dandelion and plantago greens, along with some softened Mazuri and orchard grass pellets.

Dozer moved the maple branches I put in his enclosure all over the place, and seems to have nibbled a bit at most of the leaves.

He was still excited for after his morning soak... in addition to dandelion and plantago greens with Mazuri dressing, I included a few tiny chunks of butternut squash with the meal; he seemed to find the color or smell enticing.

I'm excited that we're finally getting some hot weather in NH... Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, it should get warm enough for Dozer to spend some time in the outside enclosure I put together for him.

{in other news, I'm hoping to get the MEPs out during a cooler rainy day on Tuesday, the Russians out on one or more of the other days, and maybe get Darwin out Th/Fri/Sat... we'll see}
