Crayfish, crawfish, mud bugs, crawdads, whatever. I'm from the south so I say crawfish. Either way, they're a good variation in your box turtles diet. What you're seeing in these images is prime box turtle habitat. Grassland and pine forest, and when it rains you get pools of water scattered everywhere. Not only does this attract amphibians, but crustaceans as well. Box turtles gladly take advantage of this source of protein when they come in for a drink. I managed to find one of their mounds they build to keep hydrated.
