Cool quick story. So I rescued a sulcata on TFO with the understanding that it was a badly injured female with a limp front leg. "She" had been getting roughed up by a larger male to a degree that the owner decided it was time to separate them.
Come to find out once I get it I notice immediately it's a male which explains why the larger male damn near killed it. He got around but drug his leg in an obviously sluggish manner.
So roughly 4 weeks passes of him doing great and eating well and we notice the other day that his WHOLE LEG FEEL OFF and a perfectly healed nub was underneath it! It's crazy to see the majority of his leg simply detached from his body.

This animals are tough as hell. He is doing really well and actually walks better now. Although he isn't perfect, he seems happier than ever and is a total champ.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1410838954.753147.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1410838969.040680.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1410838983.917213.jpg

That is absolutely creepy. Was the leg cold or did he respond when you touched it or pressed on it? Was there some kind of band around it cutting off the circulation? I know there are vets on this forum I hope they check in soon and tell us what happened.

Wow, that is amazing. Just want to clarify. Did part of his leg fall off and that is what's left, or did part of his leg fall off and there was actually a new part of a leg that had grown in? Either way, still amazing.

When we received Kayla (now Frank lol) he was dragging his leg and showed no flexibility passed the elbow. After watching him for several days I strongly suspected that the leg had no circulation but it never showed any "separation". It simply was just off one day.

So no their was no regeneration of part of the leg. It simply healed at the elbow underneath the dead flesh.

I will have to make a video of him getting around with his new nub.

Wow, that's something!

Does this guy still get to live the good/single life there with you still now that you know it's a male?
