Do we know how many pieces there are in 25lbs?
For the larger cuttlebone I get, IF I weigh them I get an average of 11g ea. That gives 40 of them per pound. That would equate to 1000 cuttlebone to make 25 lbs!!!Do we know how many pieces there are in 25lbs? I recently bought two 25-piece boxes from Amazon for around $35.
Mine are about 4.5" so I guess those are medium according to this site...For the larger cuttlebone I get, IF I weigh them I get an average of 11g ea. That gives 40 of them per pound. That would equate to 1000 cuttlebone to make 25 lbs!!!
Since I am in the market right now, this caught my attention. So in looking into this - This doesn't equate to what appears to be other prices I find. I see on Amazon a 5 lb box seems to be about 60 cuttlebone in the 6" size range. So my weighing what I have, isn't computing to what it appears you get!? I get free 2 day shipping on Amazon, so wanted to compare. The 5 lb box is $46.95 on Amazon. On the site referenced above, the box is $30, but shipping to me is $20.53 for 5 day shipping. For the larger cuttlebone I get, IF I weigh them I get an average of 11g ea. That makes much more sense. That gives about 12 per pound and equates to the approx. 60 per 5 lbs on Amazon. Thank you!Ok, I pulled out my current 5 lb box sold as medium sized bones. These bones are 4-6" long and weigh mostly around 30-40 g each. Some are little smaller and some are as heavy as 50 g.
So, ordering Amazon right now, but anyone who orders from this place, please update us on what you get. Always looking for a good source.
Thanks, that is exactly what I had just ordered. For several years I've bought the Prevue brand cuttlebones from Amazon through several different sellers. These bones have always been very clean, thick, and have rounded (filed) ends. My messages above pertain to these bones.
On Amazon, they are labeled as "Prevue Pet Products BPV11465 5-Inch Bird Cuttlebone Box, Medium, 5-Pound".
