Day sleeping?

They will usually hide away and "sleep" during the hottest part if the day.

Torts sleep / rest many more hours than they are awake and roaming. They usually sleep all night and most of hottest part of the day.

Mine sleep a lot. They are active in the morning and then again in the evening. The rest of the time they are sawing logs

Yes, of course! Mine always sleeps after eating, maybe it helps them digest.

I don't know that they're actually asleep, but after they've come out and warmed up then eaten, they usually go back into the hide until evening when they come out again. I've looked in on my tortoises during this resting time and very seldom do I see their eyes closed.

My tortoise sleeps in the warm side, head on the ground, eyes closed! I got really cared when that happened! Then I realized my tortoise loves the heat :)
