Joined Oct 26, 2011 Messages 21,568 Location (City and/or State) Kent, South East England A female tort has been shown to hold onto sperm for a long time, maybe years before using it to fertilise eggs just before she lays them. The eggs don't get fertilised until just before they are laid.... They don't die inside the tortoise. If she lays in the ground and you don't find them quickly enough to put in an incubator, then they may not hatch. Does that make sense?
