So Marlin has been sleeping a little more then normal but I figured it was just the weather changing and temps not as stable. But today when I went to check on him it looked like poop was stuck to his butt so I took him in the bathroom and wiped it off. I must of stimulated him pretty good because he just let loose and everything came out. Looked like normal pee... but I set him in the sink so I could clean up the mess and he pooped this black mess. The first part was completely liquid but then a little solid came out. I kept hearing on here that people love feeding the spring mix. I work at costco and we sell it so I thought when he runs outa food I'll try this. He didnt like it much but ate it.That ran out two days ago and so I went back to the fruit stand and bought greens I normaly get. He has a good variety and seems to like this better. Has the spring mix ever gave anybody problems like this? By the way he is a 6-9 month old sulcata

Jessica I use the Costco spring mix (I do pick out the spinach for the young hatchling greeks)and have never had a problem with it and any torts I've given it too including a Sully hatchlings, DTs, Greeks (hatchlings, juvaniles or adults). Is there a possiblity that the greens you got from the fruit stand did not agree with him or had been sprayed or ferilized? Since it was the fruit stand greens he hate last(?).

Sometimes changing an animal's diet can effect his "output." Maybe changing from his normal greens to the Spring Mix bothered his system. I've never known this to be the case, but you just never know. Also, he might have picked up some parasites which are now blooming, causing the liquid poop. Get his favorite food. Chop up some grass hay really small and mix it in with his favorite food. This should help to give him some bulk and firm up that poop. My sister swears that feeding Mazuri Tortoise Diet to Bob has helped to regulate the consistency of Bob's poop. Personally, it has the opposite effect on my tortoises. You've got to fix this quickly, as babies can go down hill rapidly.

You know what I did forget to rinse the greens. Well I know what I'll be doing in a minute. I'll also try the hay in his food. Does this also mean I should give him a nice soak to keep him hydrated or do you think it would just cause more waste? Anyway... I'm sure it was the greens since i forgot to rinse them. They are always kinda gritty with some small bugs. I'll get to that right away. Aww... I feel bad that I upset his little stomach.

Don't feel bad Jessica, I do know the feeling, but you're only human, and we tend to make mistakes quite often :) I hope it was just that you didn't rinse the mix, keep us updated on your little one :)
