A friend of mine recently got me into tortoises (he has a 2 year old sulcata). Not long ago his dog bit his when it was left to roam on the floor and put a couple small punctures in the shell. They're almost needle-like where the canines went in. I can't tell how deep they are but you can' definitely see indentations. It's nothing major and the tortoise has been fine since.

Do you know if these punctures will ever heal? I hear tortoises don't shed scutes like water turtles.

I had a red foot take a full year for the whole to completely fill in. Then as she got bigger you could barely tell...
