Not the actual poop.😂

Those of us who keep fish buy filter media, where beneficial bacteria grows to help the fish.

Not the most expensive stuff in the world, but I love to save money. Over the years I've used these.

I walk my dogs, and I'm always cleaning up after them on trails and in the yard. These little black rolls hold the bags together, have ridges and holes. Perfect place for bacteria to grow.

I put them in these mesh bags and put them in the filters. When I want to start another tank; I just toss these into the filter of the tank itself to get it going.

Good thinking, but at first I thought you were using the dog poop. You fill the bag with the poop(little black rolls lol)
I used to just keep an extra sponge in the tank.

Sponges works great. You can get a 100 for like $20

Very interesting, even though I am not a fish keeper, having always had lousy luck with trying...I guess fish just never struck a particularly warm note with me... especially since my first memorable experience with fish was being screamed at by my brother when we were kids and my turtle ate his fish... 🤔.

I'm not a serious fish keeper, but I deal with pretty much everything. I used to keep birds. I had my parrot since I was a kid and it passed in 2020. I loved him, but I don't miss the noise😂
