My Brazilian has been ramming me occasionally when I put my hand in enclosure and pet his head. Even if he sees me approaching slowly.

I'm feeling quite used. All he cares about is my hand dropping food. LOL

But seriously is this a sign of stress? Or puberty related aggression (he's 2 yrs.)

He has not rammed my other red at all. :/ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1444508599.970655.jpg

Awww, cute pic. I have read in other threads it is a sign of maturity. Then again some just do that. If you have just the two together, you might keep a closer eye for this one to bully the other, just incase it's not just your hand he wants to fight with.

Pretty tortoise!!
I think tortoises can be like people in the respect that some are naturally more aggressive than others, but also that it may be just a phase as he tests out his strength and abilities.
Hopefully, he'll grow out of it.

It seems to be true that torts:

1) don't like to be cuddled
2) only run for food

And if one has a tort, then I believe one has to put up with such facts.:(

A gorgeous tort it really is! GOD bless.:D

Interesting. Our RF is 3 and loves a nice shell rub, sticking out limbs and relaxing. Very interested in humans and not shy at all.

Seems to definitely be a tort by tort difference. Fascinating little creatures...

My little Ruby has started ramming too, even when I offer a treat she will try to ram me first to see what I do. She's about 4-5in long so I laugh at her and stand my ground.
