I remember reading about a member telling about feeding liver to their turtle. I would like to know more about this. What kind of liver is best and is it fed raw? If not, what are some way to prepare it?
Thanks Gerry

I found this, but I never fed liver to our boxies. Worms & slugs yes, organ meats from mammals, no.

But, here is what I found.

➡️ I've used it for years as a supplement to the diet, offering it about once a month. I'll boil it, and a full grown male slider will get about a quarter size piece. For the box turtles, I mash it up and mix it with soaked Mazuri turtle chow and grated/diced fruits and veggies for the box turtles.

That may have been me. I feed raw chicken liver every once in a while, as well as fish liver. You could cook it on low by boiling it. It gives it like a cooked ground beef consistency.

Many, many years ago I read that you should feed organ meat sparingly, however, it's been so long ago that I no longer remember the reasoning.

as soon as it warms up a bit more , i believe next week , i will be feeding all my turtles calves liver at least a couple times ....... i also feed it a couple times before they quit eating in the fall ....it is a nutrient dense food .... i lightly cook it to keep it from falling apart ......
