Sounds like you are doing it right already. I feed mine twice a day everyday. The couple days a week feeding regime is old info and wasn't good when it was new info.

One year old is still a fast growing baby. I'd keep doing what you're doing.

Doesn't like hibiscus? That is an odd one! Keep feeding twice a day like you are. As much as I like the ease of doing research on the "WorldWideInternetMachine", tortoise information tends always to let me down.

I know it's not a lot of good tortoise info but Garden State tortoise Chris Leone he's an excellent source of information I purchased from him I live in New York don't like to bother him too much though he's very busy man but he always answers your questions and yeah what's a lot of trouble to get a hibiscus tree started inorganic soil and she doesn't eat it LOL oh another good source of information is Kamp Kenan he's on YouTube another expert so so good

Chris is an outstanding source of tortoise knowledge, especially for hermanns considering all the work he's done related to the species. I'm surprised your little one doesn't like hibiscus. My 3-month-old from GardenStateTortoise loves it! I imagine it's like eating a pack of Skittles
