Will the fluval canisters work if they are at the same level as the tank. The tank is currently at floor level because I’m waiting to buy a stand. Will the filter work if it is not below the tank?

Once it's "primed" it will.
Depending on how much air is in the lines, you might need to get creative on the startup.
Then it'll be fine

Yeah, should work fine once it's primed. Just might be tricky to start up.
