This is another update about my journey to be a tortoise owner. Here is a pic of the 2 females i purchased last Saturday at a reptile show near me.

They started eating immediately out of the transport tote and seemed to settle in my new enclosure immediately. I am struggling to get my daily routine in place in regards to feeding though. They both devour anything i give them.
I pick up an adult male this weekend. I am adding another connected 32 sq ft area. My “L” shaped enclosure will now be “U” shaped.

I am finding it tough to provide them a varied diet in my Pennsylvania winter. I ordered a bunch of different greens from the local grocery store. Greens such ad Collards, turnip, dandelion. They immediately ate the mazuri i gave them. I am gonna try to order some dried flower petals today. Any recommendations? I will try and cut some field weeds today also.
For me, this is a trying time to get them and myself on a diet regimen that i am comfortable with.

I’ve had some luck with tortoise supply tortoise hay, I sprinkler it on-top of the food.

I think the most important thing to remember when feeding grocery store greens is amendments. So most importantly fiber and calcium. For fiber, there are different pellets and food toppers like the tortoise hay. I like the Agrobs Testudo herbs pellets, since they contain a wide variety of over 60 different plants.

For calcium there is powders with or without vitamin D, but some people like Grandpa Turtle prefer egg shells. I also like to add a cuttle bone to the enclosure to satisfy any cravings.

As you plan on breeding, you might also want to research multi vitamins like Nutrobal for egg laying.

Looks like you used soil with perlite for substrate. You need to remove that ASAP. They will eat it and it can slowly kill them, or greatly hamper their digestion.

Also, those plastic plants are likely to be eaten, especially since their appetites are so ravenous. I've never been able to keep plastic plants in any tortoise enclosure without them eating them eventually.
