While shopping for fir bark I came across something called fir bark mulch. How is this different from normal fir bark and is this suitable for a year old greek?
Or is this just a fancier way of saying fir bark?

You need to read the ingredients list, which is covered up by the warning sticker telling you about the horrible dangers of a plastic bag. If it is just plain orchid bark with nothing added, then it should work well.

PURE bark is what you want.
Avoid anything calling itself a "mix" or a "blend"
THE HOME DEPOT sells it fairly inexpensively
