Hello and welcome!

It's good to have an account with a local tortoise vet in case of emergency, but other than that, there is not much for a vet to do with a healthy tortoise, and not much that can be told by looking at the outside of a tortoise.

A common problem that we see here regularly is that vets don't know much about tortoise care. Vets know vet stuff like surgery and wound care and medicine dosing. They learn about husbandry from the same wrong sources as everyone else. There is no semester on tortoise care in vet school. So be careful. Politely refuse any "vitamin injections" and realize that those are a clear sign of a vet that does not know tortoises.

Check out this thread for lots of helpful and current info on tortoise care:

Questions are welcome!
