What kind of roses
Any kind is fine, but be sure there are no chemicals. Most roses get "fed" with pesticidal mixes and sprayed with fungicides. I only use my own established roses that have been in my care for years. I would not use anything from a recent store bought rose bush, or something tended to by gardeners.

My wife is a rose hobbyist, so I get buckets of flowers and leaves from time to time, and I mix that in with all the other tortoise foods. We cut off any spines that are on the stems.

You have "replies" turned off, so I can't answer your message. Grated squash or zucchini is a great way to add some variety and nutrition. If you are growing your own, the leaves and blooms are great tortoise food too.

Don't forget to give him some protein too, examples are hard boiled eggs in the shell, cut in half, sardines, occasionally dog food pellets, boiled chicken meat.
