So, I have been chopping up shelloise's food very fine, as I read on some postings to do. She hardly eats. This afternoon I was in a reptile store and they had small tortoises her size and one of them was ripping a cactus pad apart like crazy and eating no problem. the piec:tort:e was about 1 and a half inches square. I bought some cactus pads and am going to try them.

There's nothing wrong with chopping up your baby tortoises food. I did this for a few weeks when I first got my hatchlings, but after that, I make them use their beak to tear up their food. I think it helps keep their beak trimmed and gives them more stimulation while they're eating.

Again, totally fine if you continue to chop it up for your little one. Perhaps try a little bit of both whole leaves and chopped greens?
