Hey everyone!
This may be a silly question but..
I've had my guy for just a few weeks. He has an outdoor enclosure.(I do have something special ready inside for cold nights) However, I don't have any special equipment providing extra humidity. His enclosure has water pans and lots of plants. For example, today the humidity in the air is 92%. Does that mean it's enough for him without having to set up anything special?
Thank you. I am just concerned about being the best RF parent I can!

That sounds ok to me. Keeping the plants watered also helps.

Thank you. I am so paranoid about pyramiding. Appreciate the feedback!

Outdoor is the way to go. If you are in Florida, you really don't have to worry much about additional humidity. If anything, you have to make sure that you provide them a spot where they can get dry and out of the rain if they need to. I have a worse time time with battling shell rot from too much moisture, than pyramiding from not enough moisture.

Yes, he does have an area to escape the rain. Thank you for the input. His house does have a dirt floor however, but it is up a bit higher than the rest of the enclosure. No rain yet so I'm anxious to see how everything holds up. I will definitely be aware of shell rot, I'm trying to learn everything I can! Thank you again

The only thing I can say is in regards to air conditioning drying the air out while the tortoise is inside. If the tort isn't in air conditioned spaces, s/he is all set in that FL climate. It's an ideal place to raise redfoots.

Wonderful...thank you. Yes he is outside 100% of the time, although as mentioned I do have a setup to bring him inside when temps drop under 60 at night. :)

I live in South Florida and I still provide misting via a system during the less humid winter months. My RF all currently live outdoors 24/7
I still, however encounter very mild pyramiding.

Thanks for that feedback! I do mist the enclosure by hand daily but I don't have any kind of a system set up. I suppose a small amount of pyramiding may be inevitable?
