Well since Tim has encroached upon my photography domain, I (Robin) have to branch out :p! It is my first time trying to upload a video to YouTube. This video is as basic as you get, but some of you (particularly Candy) may like seeing some of our planicaudas enjoying their fresh squash/shroom salad this morning.

That was so cool! What kind of squash and was it raw?

We feed all kinds of squash (and tend to nibble it ourselves while feeding) but all species definitely prefer butternut squash. We cook ours so that even the littlest hatchling beaks can eat it.

Oh thank you Robin I love that video. You did a great job. I thought you guys only owned two of those, but you have $8000.00 worth of tortoises( if not more) just in that one bowl. :p I'll take the one at the top of the video who eventually climbs in the bowl and the look on the one next to him is priceless. :D Loved it thanks again. Can't wait till they have babies. ;)

Studies in the wild have shown them to scavenge on animal carcasses and to eat snails/slugs. Yes, our redfoot diet is nearly identical. We usually use cat food instead of live food, however.

The peas were a first for the planis. We don't normally feed peas to anyone but the uromastyx lizard. We were just curious if anyone would find them particularly palatable. Most of the dishes were empty! Peas will not become a regular part of their diet, nonetheless.

Our complete collection is not shown in that video ;). Yes, we are very dedicated to all of our torties and hold the Pyxis closest to our hearts. We are not wealthy people by any means, so we take a lot of extra measures to make certain our animals are healthy and happy.

And we take hygiene to an extreme with our animals- we use alcohol based hand cleaner between every cage/dish/animal. All our dishes go through the dishwasher daily. Our cages and supplies are washed at least monthly with Nolvasan (chlorhexidine) for extra protection. May sound like overkill to some we realize. But an opportunity to share our lives with so many Pyxis tortoises is precious :p.

Wow, the dishwasher daily. Lots of work! I have a tough time remembering to use soap once a week besides the daily changing and rinse off.
