555 SQFT. Planted Redfoot safe with mulberry , Raspberry, Blueberry, Rose of Sharon, Etc etc etc trust me when I say I planted all edible and tort safe plants ha This was a flat bit of yard with a mulberry bush already there so win win. Dug out ravines and high and low spots everything is up and down so they build those little leg muscles. . Scored a neighbors rotting log a few years back so now I have some nice day time hides. They also have security cameras on the pen from all sides but then again they have padlocked sunk in ground lock boxes for nights. Our local three legged raccoon pretty much has finally given up ... There was a smaller version of this pen on my old account here but that was ten years back. before anyone asks I don't incubate an egg unless the potential owner has read a few suggested books and I feel it's a safe bet it's a great owner . The males aren't mine and not even on property till the person is currently setting up their own indoor and out door pens if able. That being said this not a sales pitch haha I don't have one to spare all spoken for and no plans at all to breed unless the right person comes along..

Looks great. Is it just the two in there? I ask because even though RF are one species it could work for, keep a close eye on them. If a pair he can bug her to illness or death.
A group of 1 male to several females much better.

Enjoy your 3 months of summer !
Actually its about 5 months. 6 months if we didn't have such a bad spring/April.
Unless of course the OP lives in upper MI. Otherwise I have around the same weather. We went from heat Sunday to nothing on yesterday to AC today. Crazy
A lot of years even into November gives us some tortoise outside days.

I have had Red foots and yellow foots for 44 years so I hear you. I appreciate the advice though and the Cheeryheard is a male. He's too young though he gets an occasional attempt in it's only rejected and again I don't incubate . He doesn't live all year in the same pens. Just outdoor pens get the three larger ones. The babies get that little play pen :)

They get autumn days into Nov yep. But only 24 hours outside till the regular night time drops to 67° then it's in and out every day .

Go Cubs! The adults and sub adult were all born back home in Chicago ! Ha that is before I packed up and crossed the Lake.. I had none of them since birth though. I got them all a few years into their lives. But healthy little horses now.

I don't think we had it bad last year here. This year though is the latest I ever got them out. Usually they are out in April off and on and even a few days in March.
We hit 90 today and upper 80's all week. Next week not looking as good but of course that could change a few times by then.

I'm right across the lake from Evanston ( also if youre in Wrigley area always dine at Cozys on Sheffield! .. but we get a ten degree discrepancy.10° warmer in the winter 10° cooler in the summer because of the lake. So 90 in Lakeview is 80 here almost always .

Security Day and night cameras. Inexpensive and a great way to see who visits the pen at night. Hence me knowing about the three legged raccoon 🦝 ha

I used to live in Lakeview. Now I'm Northwest in Norwood Park neighborhood. We are always warmer here then Lakeview except winters, we are usually colder a few degrees.

I was on Waveland and Ashland next to the dentist. That little balcony used to be my city pen ha

We were Sheffield and Wellington. Loved that neighborhood. Needed more room for the torts so we moved from one city lot to almost 3 city lots.
I'm originally from MI, Muskegon. Family still all in MI. I'm not fond of it. Love Chicago!
