She usually waits for better weather than this but it looks like I'll be digging in the rain tonight. Does any/everyone else wait for their torts to completely cover and abandon nest before excavating? Call me crazy but I never want to alarm them or mess up the natural process by interrupting the momma, even when I'm pretty confident she's done laying.

Very cool, a few forum members have posted pictures of them catching the eggs as they are laying them..

Yeah figured as much, I have yet to meet someone else who waits like I do; it's def more labor intensive but I'm paranoid about spooking them...
