Now I feel like a stupid, I was all excited to show you all because I was excited for Fred thinking it was thw right house for him. To find out it's not the right house for him. I am glad I slowed you all the screenshot because we would have bought it. So thank you for the information everyone. I appreciate it.

Don’t feel stupid! So many people have made that error of judgement and bought one of those wooden ‘tortoise houses’.

I wouldn’t have known why they aren’t appropriate before joining this forum either, it’s all a learning curve and it’s nice we can learn new things from one another on here🙂

Do you know what kind of set up you want to go with moving forward? There’s multiple options, some might even work out cheaper which is a bonus😊

I’d go the grow tent route, a smart enclosure or a vivarium the size you need until they can go outside would be pricey.
DIY is also a good option, you could make your own base, line with cheap pond liner, then get a greenhouse topper, or make your own topper out of timber and pvc panels🙂 hopefully some of the photo examples in that thread I gave you can be some inspiration😊

Hello! I’m very well thanks! Hope you are too? Lovely to hear from you again! No bother at all, always happy to chat tortoises🥰

I have no personal hands on experience with large grow tents, I have seen folks have success with them on the forum though! I saw this one going back

I can’t remember if I’ve link you this thread I made before, there’s quite a few different closed chamber options in there if you’re interested having a look😊

LittleLove...I keep Sulcata and have kept for 20 years...from large to small...right now I have a 10 month old Sulcata...he was in a grow tent of sorts...but I have large kittens who sharpened their claws on the plastic...so now he is in a 250 gallon acrylic aquarium...the thing about this top is it's enclosed with 2 small holes I have sheet insulation over...yet...the temp is good 83 to 85 degrees with 85% humidity. He was already pyramiding when I got him but I think that's stopped...Those screen shots I saw of yours don't look like there's enuf walking room for Sulcata...
he is a care sheet written by one of our experts and breeders of fine Sulcata...if you've read this..ok, but if you haven't given this a read...here's my baby DSCN2898.JPG

and the care sheet...
The Best Way To Raise A Sulcata, Leopard, Or Star Tortoise

I kept Bob the Sulcata from a couple of years old to 120+ pounds and 17 years old...he had a soft ball sized bladder stone and the surgery killed him...Bob was fed a great diet and had his own pond he'd swim in...BUT in the wild Sulcata may walk 20 miles taking a bite here and another there..and altho Bob was spoiled rotten and I did everything I knew to make him grow healthy...evidently he simply didn't get enuf exercise..So I try to impress upon any new Sulcata keeper I meet, that a lot of exercise is just as important as heat and humidity...Bob was a very special celebrity in Corvallis...on the TV 4 times and in the paper for 3 times...and in all my years around Sulcata, I've never met another Bob..as TFO will mostly agree...lol

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know I have only had Fred since June but it would be devestating. I can't even imagine what you are going through or went through. Maggie3fan you don't think a 10x10 grow tent isn't enough room? 😔

I may have missed it, but how big is your tortoise? SCL (= the distance from the front edge of the carapace to the back edge, measured horizontally with the tortoise flat on the ground) and weight?
