Ok so to start i got shorty collard greens and mustard greens. husband does not like things to go to wast and well shorty is not a fan of the mustard greens. takes a bite spits it out... so he is picking out the collard greens. I wanted to see if some of the stuff we have on hand was ok to give him with the collard greens until the bag of collard greens goes bad (has another 3-4 day) before i go buy another bag of greens for a tortoise the size of a golf ball :tort: before you ask... we are not big salad eaters ha ha. also is it ok to freeze some of it? because if i can do that then i don't have to explain the 3 bags of greens to the boyfriend.

so are the following a good idea or a bad idea:
cilantro
yellow onion greens (i have onions growing in my back yard)
aloe plant (the real deal not the ornamental, although we have those too)
sage?
grass clippings? is he to young?
i have some clovers i saw those are ok so i am going to put them in the mix too.

weeds are best, or get the spring mix salads.. dark leafy greens..
Aloe is ok, look for cactus pads.. they can be frozen, lettuce can not.
grass cuttings are ok too.

aloe vera is great just use in moderation it can cause diarrhea, grass clippings are fine as long as they are chemical free, the earlier you can get him started on grass and weeds of course will work, the better. I personally don't use cilantro but I know others do.

I fed it twice a week, I got a lot growing, so a few pea sized ones for a hatchling should be fine, if diarrhea develops you can just cut down.

What about Kale, Endive or raddichio in addition to a spring mix? My Leo's do not like the mustard greens either and I cannot blame them, that stuff smell's bad!!

I would not feed collard or kale a couple of days in a row and only that, when I offer those to my tortoises, it is with mixed with other greens and I feed it maybe once per 2 weeks.
