I'm just wondering at what age my sullies will start eating grass/hay. My larger 3yo is eating grass clippings by the pound. However I really having notices the other eating grass.
Sadly, many of them are never introduced to it at a young age, so they don't eat it.
I start giving finely chopped tender new grass to my hatchlings. Usually I just sprinkle a little on top of the other food. As a result my babies all eat grass from day one. You can use the same technique to introduce it to any age sulcata. Just start with a very small amount sprinkled on top and gradually add more and more over a period of weeks or months. Don't rush it. Many of them take a while to develop a taste for it. Just keep offering it whether they seem to be eating it or not. In time it will begin to disappear with the rest of the food.
Our Sulcata eat grass soon as we took him out in the yard for sun in the very early stage. He is one year old now and weights 2.2 lb. Untreated grass is very big part of his diet we also soak him daily.
