Hey
So my vet prescribed baytril injections for a week. As with any other medication this one too seems to be controversial. So im really confused now. I will talk to the vet later today once more and discuss the blood results but i am trying to get an appointment with another one... Just to confirm the treatment accuracy. I will keep you posted

Hello!
Why did he prescribe antibiotics? Baytril had adverse side effects and without tests for specific infection should not be used in the first place. Fortaz is a safer alternative for treating unknown bacterial infections (when vet doesn't want to do expensive tests but suspect there is one).

@lucckaa Please, could you translate your posts in English, please? Most users on the forum are English-speaking.

What is wrong about kale (when it's fed in moderation)?

OP is busy upgrading the enclosure - watch this thread for updates.

And I still ask you to make a post in Introductions sections and tell more about yourself and your tortoises. Your advice differs from forum's guides and I see this as a learning opportunity, not a reason for debates.

Is there a way you are translating on here or do you speak polish? I’d be curious what they’re saying🙂

lol fair enough, I can’t be bothered to keep copying and pasting😂but if it’s easier for this person in their own threads, I’m happy doing so😊
Google translate has a "translate whole page" feature. Hit it once and everything is translated.

Hello Everyone !
So, the temporary terrarium was finished this week and Frankling moved in. It is temporary but still million times better than what he had before. I will be reading again your comments about the lamp and food I should use so that I can improve it even more.

Vet:
I went to the third vet and he actually has a clue. I could see it from how he handles Franklin and what he already knows. He said:
1. No vitamin A injections
2. No Baytril injections
3. He rarely does blood check because of trauma caused by it (Franklin had it done anyway but exactly because of this trauma the results make no sense)

What we are doing now:
1. Twice a day a bath in CCF formula
2. He is fed by the vet 1-2 / week (food: critical care)

How Franklin is doing:
He is still hiding, has swollen eyelids and doesnt want to eat by himself. When in water, he is active and wants to escape :D but he IS active and thats good. His eyes (or rather eyelids) are still light sensitive especially after the bath (something I noticed yesterday). There is a bit of water accumulated under his skin (between the head and the legs) and this is sth I need to observe. The vet said it could be that he simply needs to relieve himself or could be the kidneys. IF it stays as it is now, we are going to the vet on Thursday and he might get a medication that is supposed to help the kidneys and kind of 'release' too much water from his body. Otherwise he said it takes time for tortoises to get better after living in shitty conditions for years. So, we will see.
Have a wonderful evening

Thank you for the update! I hope Franklin continues to improve for you, definitely keep us in the loop❤️ a photo of the fluid build up you’re on about would be good if you can

It is sth one can feel more rather than see it. I also noticed that water irritates his eyes. The temperature is around 28 degrees as recommended by the vet

Is water highly chlorinated or conditioned in your area? You may switch to filtered or bottled drinking water for bathing for a week and check if there is an improvement.
