Greetings from Sonoma County, CA

Hi everyone -


Just introducing my Russian, Yuri, to the world. I've been reading the forum for awhile and decided to join.

Yuri lives in Sonoma County, CA ("wine county") in an outdoor enclosure, about 4 feet x 12 feet. He returns to his "hut" for sleep after getting some sun and having his meal. His hut is a plastic "ferret castle" filled with hay. Last November, he dug in for a successful hibernation and emerged in late February.

I do have some concerns about him at the moment, which I will post in a more appropriate location.

It's great to see others out there who care about torts like I do!

Welcome! Can you post some pictures of Yuri and his enclosure? Everyone loves pictures.

I love pictures, too - here are a few of Yuri. One of my favorite Yuri activities is when he emerges from his "hut" (it's a ferret castle), after it is warmed by the sun (like a little greenhouse).

(Note: He has never attempted to eat the ivy. I cut it all out when I read it was toxic, and noticed as it started to grow back, he ignored it, and likes to tunnel in it.)

Photo 3) Yuri heading for his salad. He enjoys those "mini sweet peppers" - you can see the red one on top of his salad.
Photo 4) Inside Yuri's hut! You can see his cute little face, before emerging.

I thought I had some showing more of his enclosure - I'll keep digging.

Rhishja, the pics of Yuri were easy to view. He is a cute tort I love the one were you placed his face inside the red heart.
I have one of those but my torts won't use it at all. I think I might try again this winter thanks for the idea.
