Habitat Concerns

We live in SW Florida where it's hot and humid most of the year. Slappy slept for awhile in the corner of the garage nowhere near a heat lamp on the concrete. He seems to like it. Recently during the heavy rainy season, he's moved to a hidden area under thick brush which he also seems to not have a problem with. I'm guessing all is well as long as he's happy, but he refuses to sleep in the comfy wooden house I built him.

He's about 4 years old and 15 pounds or so. Eats well but wanted to know if this sleep habitat is fine as long as he doesn't seem to mind it.

What species? What is the over night low temperature?

Is the wooden house heated? My tortoise will often choose a location that isn't ideal for him. If he gets stuck out in the rain, he will huddle in a corner, not because he is comfortable but because that is what his instincts tell him to do. In his case, maybe it is just too difficult when he is cold to make the trek to his heated house, or the cold makes it so he doesn't remember it.
