OK just wanted to share this picture of my hatchling eating from my hand. He hadnt eaten for 2 days as it has been cool here, with a warm spell today I picked him up and dangled this wax worm (his favorite) in freont of him and BAM! He hit it, as you can see from the pic I dont think he realized what he was doing until it was done, lol.

Waxworms are a huge hit with mine as well. The second he sees the wiggle he'll sprint over and snatch it up!

HA! No kidding! I was thinking he was a goner for sure. He just would not eat. Then when he did for this first time I switched substrate and it irritated his eyes and he didnt eat again. I just knew he was sick, I went back to the coco fiber and he has been a little piggy every since! He does go on 1 day hunger strikes now and then. I think it has to do with the temperature at night than anything. I am keeping him awake all winter while hibernating my older 3 toed. As for the wax worm, you would think they are candy for these little turtles!

Such long, gangly legs on that munchkin! That worm was as big as the turtle.:p

Congratulations on getting him to eat! I know the "what's-wrong-with-this-picky-eater?" feeling.;)

Well I have been trying to get him to eat from my hand again. He was having no part of it. I would set him back in the container and BAM he would eat. Hmmmm, I thought. I tossed him back in the container with no food. Tonight he was a bit hungrier and BAM he ate from my hand again! Skip 2 days of the food and he was all over it like last time.
