It's pretty nice, but where's his hide? He's cute, looks like a Hermannl or Greek, I get confused between the 2 at times, so a couple questions, as a baby does he need humidity? Doesn't he need a warm night light, and is that a spiral type bulb in your fixture? I mean no disrespect at all. I don't keep those species, and what I mentioned are necessary for the different species I keep. It's how I learn, and BTW I asked about the bulb because that looks like a small hood, and spiral bulbs can and will cause either eye problems, or blindness. One of those bulbs blinded a Sulcata yearling I had....just saying.

thanks hes a hermanns, hes 3 years old,I do water the soil but underneath so the top is dry but I spray it twice a day,no its not a spiral bulb its a heat and uvb all in one so gives off both that he needs,in the process of doing his hide he had one in his other box but hardly used it he likes to dig down in the soil.

The pellets are not a good substrate. They should never be used for a tortoise or any reptile for that matter. If you think he won't use a hide, maybe a couple plants to lay under. Tortoises feel more secure when there is coverage over them.
Have you always used that light fixture? I ask because it's small without a wide dome. If the bulb gets too hot they will burn out faster. If you notice this, get one of the wider domed fixtures. Other then the substrate it looks like a nice job.

Nice enclosure.:)
Better substrates would include coco coir, cypress mulch or orchid bark.

would you recommend timothy hey?.
Well those pellet things are poor as they are too dry and if you moisten them tend to mold.
Timothy hay has the same problems.
It is eaten by some species of tort, but not really a favourite or natural food for Hermanns I believe.

what else could I use I would like him to have a couple of different types of substrate not sure about bark as it says can be a bit hard and cause damage.
