I'm Hilary and I'm new to the the forum ~ thank you Josh for the 'welcome' We have what we think is a Hermann ~ about 60 years old (was a gift to my husband from his Grand parents back in the mid(ish) 1960's when he was about 4-5 years old.....purchased off of Cambridge Market!!) Used to be named Fred, until one morning about 20 years ago we found an egg in the box that Fred had been sleeping in overnight ~ that day she became Freda!! She has been laying a clutch of eggs every year ever since!!

Welcome to the forum.
Please show us a lot of pics of Freda. It is very interesting to see a 60 year old Hermann tortoise.

Even experts can not definitively determine the age of a tortoise. It is rare for an owner to be able to know the age! How great you have had Freda for six decades! Welcome. A photo would be fun. I have a very old box turtle but only for the past four years of his life. It would be very cool to know how old he really is. But alas not possible.
