Help identify this shell

today i visited my Grandmas house and took a trip to the creek. i found this turtle shell but i feel stupid because i cant identify the species. (I was in eastern Iowa)

Western Painted turtle (Chrysemys picta bellii).

This is an easy one for me as that was my first turtle or tortoise of any kind. Mom let me keep it in a wash tub for a week or two and then back to the lake. Always kind of wonder if he is still with us. That was over fifty years ago.
